LOWA Skyterra tested by the tour guides of Alltractive
As tour guides at Alltractive, we spend a lot of time outdoors. Whether we are leading a hiking trip in Spain, organizing a trail running weekend in the Ardennes, or trekking through the Austrian mountains with groups, our shoes must be reliable. We not only run many kilometers ourselves but are also responsible for the group. Comfort, grip, and stability are therefore not a luxury, but a requirement.
“I have worn the Skyterra in the Dutch dunes, the Belgian Ardennes, and in the mountains in Austria. The grip of the Skyterra is very good on each of these terrains; I walk through and over everything with confidence.” – Evelien
At Alltractive, active travel isn't about performance, but about experiencing things together. We move as a group through impressive natural areas, where everyone can participate at their own level. That is precisely why, as tour leaders, we choose equipment we can rely on. During long days on the trail or hiking paths, we want to be able to focus our attention on the group and the surroundings, not on our feet.
“During my power walks and longer hikes, I primarily want comfort and stability, and the Skyterra really gives me that. The cushioning is pleasant, even when I cover a lot of miles or am out for a long time with my groups.” – Sylvia

The LOWA Skyterra was developed for long days on the trails. It is a shoe for people who like to look beyond the next turn and who love long distances in nature. The name says it all: where the sky meets the earth (terra), this shoe feels at home. What struck us immediately is that the shoe feels comfortable from the very first kilometers.
“During Bushcraft week, I took the Lowa Skyterra brand new out of the box and didn't take them off all week. The fit was very nice for me. My slightly wider feet fit in them well.” – Addie
One of the Skyterra's strong points is its cushioning. For this, LOWA uses their new DYNATPE® midsole, which provides support along the entire length of the shoe. During our travels, we regularly spend days of five to six hours or longer. It is on days like these that you truly notice how important a comfortable sole is.
“My time on feet is regularly five to six hours or longer, and I haven't had a single uncomfortable moment with these shoes.” – Evelien
Grip also deserves attention. On our travels, we encounter all kinds of surfaces: sandy paths in the Netherlands, muddy forest roads in the Ardennes, gravel paths in Spain, and rocky mountain trails in Austria. The Vibram® outsole of the Skyterra provides plenty of confidence on all these surfaces. The 4,5-millimeter-deep lugs ensure grip during climbing as well as descents.

“Out in the mountains, I liked the grip and they walked very comfortably because they feel nice and light.” – Addie
What we appreciate is that the Skyterra doesn't try to be a shoe it isn't. This isn't an aggressive racing shoe for short, fast trails. Instead, it is an all-around trail shoe that excels during long days outdoors. A shoe you can run, hike, guide, and lead tours in without your feet paying the price later.
“For me, this is not a fast shoe, but rather a nice all-rounder to move around in and enjoy.” – Sylvia
The wider sole base and stable construction provide a lot of confidence when you get fatigued or when the terrain becomes more technical. Especially as a tour leader, when you constantly switch between leading, guiding stragglers, and keeping an overview of the group, you notice how pleasant that stability is.

“The fit is great. As with all my trail shoes, I chose a size larger than my normal shoe size, and that gives me the room my feet need.” – Evelien
During our travels, we are often on the move for hours at a time. In such situations, you want a shoe that remains comfortable during both a trail run and a walk. That is exactly what the Skyterra seems to be made for. The combination of cushioning, grip, stability, and a relatively low weight makes it versatile.
“They run and walk well. Also on the Dutch trails!” – Evelien
CONCLUSION
After many kilometers on various terrains, we can say that the LOWA Skyterra fits perfectly with the way we at Alltractive spend time outdoors. From the Spanish hills to the Ardennes and the Austrian Alps, the shoe offers exactly what we need: comfort during long days, reliable grip on diverse surfaces, and sufficient stability to be relaxed on the move.
For trail runners, hikers, and active outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy spending long days in nature, the Skyterra is a versatile choice. Not an outright racing shoe, but a reliable partner for anyone who primarily wants to cover many beautiful kilometers.
